Tree Tech Chosen for 3rd Year to Cut Down & Deliver Macy's Christmas Tree in Boston

Just before Thanksgiving, Tree Tech was once again chosen to cut down and deliver the Macy's Christmas tree, to be displayed at their store in down town crossing, a holiday tradition. This is the tree service company's 3rdyear working with Macy's.

It took between five and six landscapers to prepare the tree for cutting and transport. First, a sling was attached to the tree trunk by a hook on a crane, in order to keep the tree upright while other workers cut at the base. Once the trunk was cut, the crane carefully lowered the tree onto a large tarp and the landscapers gently bound the branches to protect the tree on the flatbed truck for its journey to Boston.

"We tied up the tree for transport, cut it and secured it with 1 of our cranes, loaded it on low-bed trailer and shipped to Boston where it will be installed by others," stated Andy Felix, Tree Tech Founder and President. The lighting takes place Thanksgiving weekend and is quite the spectacle of lights. For more on the story read the full article in the Sun Chronicle.

TREE TECH STORM DAMAGE UPDATE: HURRICANE SANDY

Tree Tech is happy to report that Hurricane Sandy spared the state of Massachusetts any major damage. In the wake of the storm, Tree Tech was hired to remove over 50 trees from homes, garages, cars and other structures throughout the Massachusetts and Rhode Island area. The large scale cleanup effort has caused some delays in our ability to maintain the level of rapid response we were able to deliver prior to the storm. We hope to have our staff arborists back on a normal tree service schedule in the next couple of weeks.

Following the storm, Tree Tech sent four guys, a crane truck and a chipper to assist Andy Felix’s brother’s company, Tree Health Management, located in Hicksville – on Long island NY. Their area was heavily hit and they were thankful for the support of our guys. We took plenty of extra fuel and generators for those struggling without electricity and heat.

Overall, two different tree service crews spent almost 10 days assisting in the call to action cleaning up storm damage to trees and landscapes in New York. Tim Burdick and Andra Guenard, our crane operators along with Joe Guenard, John Higgenbotham, David (Big Bird) Fairbanks and Nick Troia-Kelleher – all did tours. Following the work, our office here in Massachusetts received many calls praising the efforts of our crews.

TREE TECH AWARDED CONTRACT TO MANAGE COMPOST FOR TOWN OF FOXBORO

Last month, Tree Tech Inc was awarded the contract to manage the Town of Foxboro Massachusetts' compost facility. On April 2 Tree Tech officially took over managing the town's green waste. The mutually beneficial privatization will save Foxboro taxpayers over $70,000 per year. The contract allows Tree Tech to manage municipal by-products on town owned land, while providing a more sustainable waste solution. According to President Andy Felix, the collaboration also gives Tree Tech Inc. more space to expand its operation. "The new location enables us to manage our by-products ½ mile away versus 7 miles saving considerably on fuel and travel time," he stated.

Tree Tech Participates in Massachusetts Arbor Day of Service

Last spring more than 200 Massachusetts Arborist Association members took part in a new volunteer program called Arbor Day of Service. Forty five communities across Massachusetts received an estimated $325,000 in professional arboriculture services from MAA members. Projects included tree planting, ornamental pruning and hazard tree removal at sites including town parks, elementary schools, community libraries, and playgrounds across the state. An estimated 2,200 volunteer hours were recorded that day.

In 2011, Tree Tech Inc. and its staff of certified arborists donated thousands of dollars in tree services to the Habitat for Humanity project in Norton MM. This year’s Arbor Day of Service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 and Tree Tech will once again be donating its arborist services – this time to the Foxboro Common – one of the last and nicest traditional commons in New England. The Tree Tech staff will also participate in the city of Boston’s Arbor Day Celebration by providing tree planting and tree trimming services to the local community.
